Gordana Toseva - Chief of Party - eGov Project Macedonia

Today’s panel and discussion was very useful for me. I had the chance to explain what our experiences are, but also to hear what other people think, and to see where Macedonia is in terms of government development in wider Europe and the world. It was also good to see what the representatives of the ICT industry think. All participants in the debate are agreed that this process has started in Macedonia and it is something that must and will continue. I expect that, within the next year or two, Macedonia will have this strategy defined very well, and will also continue to aggressively implement it.

Michal Rumak – Sales Director Eastern Europe - NComputing

I’m very impressed with the subjects and also the organisation of the event. Most of the countries and governments should envy such an approach. It’s a great opportunity for Macedonia and for other regional countries, to jump into a new way of forging business communication and education. We’d like to continue our presence here with new products and new ideas.

Dr Keith Prenton OBE - Chief of Party - Primary Education Project - USAID

There has been a mix of delegates, which has certainly been useful and added to the discussions. I have made a number of connections here that I’ve been interested in for some time but haven’t had the time to make before. The absence of an agreed strategy that is shared by all the key stakeholders - that seems to me the thing that’s come out of Macedonia in terms of ICT development. It’s good to see these major international companies interested in education, and taking a lead in this partnership for the 21st Century.

Virgil Ivan-Cucu – Senior Expert on Justice & Home Affairs - RCC

It is absolutely mandatory to have this public-private partnership. More or less the same situation could be found in Bosnia-Herzogivna, in Croatia perhaps, in Romania for sure and in Bulgaria. The participants are now aware about the importance of the ICT as a very, very strong tool for eGovernment, for governance, for transnational, transitional government. Without dialogue and without these type of meetings, you cannot achieve any development.

Elizabeta Janicijevic – Account Manager - Macedonia - Cisco Systems

It was very fruitful for us to listen, and to discuss with, all the people on the panel and the audience. I believe there will be ongoing activities as a result of these two days The government has a lot of ideas. Also we, as representative companies, have ideas to share and to help the government; however, we will also need good execution of it.

Aleksandar Kirkovski – Culture and Civic Society - Macedonia - President’s Cabinet

There were several companies included in the ICT which they are not just companies, but some of the biggest name s in this industry. Macedonia is improving with the implementation of ICT in education, and this is a long process, so we definitely shouldn’t stop here.

Marek Jakimowicz – Sales Director - Central Europe & The Baltics - Pearson Education

Cisco, Microsystems, Oracle, Pearson, we are working together in some markets, and in some markets we are competing with our developments. For us, it was a kind of a test of the audience- how they would react to the projects we presented. I know that the discussions and the talks and the different presentations are making much more progress than a simple offer.

Fiznik Marku – Head of ICT - Ministry of Education, Macedonia

This is such a changing environment within education and technology that you cannot predict from the beginning what to do.

William Davis – Editorial Director, British Publishers

A strategic approach is needed, driven by both political will, but also by effective partnerships, by private-sector and other experts.
